CAUT National Survey on Contract Academic Staff

UBCFA encourages your participation in this important survey

The Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) is undertaking the first ever national study on the experiences of Contract Academic Staff (CAS). The research is led by Dr. Karen Foster, Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at Dalhousie University. It will collect much needed data on the experiences of this growing academic workforce.

The survey is open to those who taught in the 2016-2017 academic year, at one or more Canadian post-secondary institutions (including universities, colleges, and polytechnics) and whose job is in some way non-permanent, whether your title is “contract instructor”, “contract academic staff”, a “limited-term appointment”, “part-time faculty”, “adjunct”, “sessional”, or similar. The survey provides an opportunity to reflect on and make sense of your experiences, and to contribute to greater knowledge about contract instructors working in our universities and colleges. Closing date: November 1, 2017.

Additional information on the study, data protection, confidentiality and risks of participation is accessible via a linked Informed Consent document in the survey’s introduction. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Foster by email: [email protected] or phone: 902-494-6751.
