The Faculty Association is all about its members — over 3,300 individuals on both campuses in all disciplines and units. Our members play a pivotal role in the life and success of UBC and include the professoriate (Acting Assistant, Assistant, Associate and Full professors), faculty in the Educational Leadership Stream (Assistant Professor of Teaching, Associate Professor of Teaching and Professor of Teaching), Lecturers, Sessional faculty and Librarians. Heads and Directors of units as well as some Assistant Deans are also part of our membership as are Program Directors.
Some job categories are not part of the Faculty Association. They are visiting and adjunct faculty, clinical faculty, postdoctoral fellows, research associates, teaching assistants, emeritus faculty, some assistant deans (AAPS members), senior academic administrators (associate deans and above), and some categories of librarians (CUPE).
As a member, your dues, paid to the Faculty Association semi-monthly, allow us to undertake the Association’s work on your behalf. This work includes bargaining the Collective Agreement, providing the faculty perspective on University policy development and providing assistance to individual members. We keep in touch through our website, newsletters, email, events and meetings. We hold a general meeting for members in the Fall and our Annual General Meeting in spring.
