Join the UBCFA Equity Committee

The UBC Faculty Association Equity Committee (EC) is seeking new members. This Committee is responsible for identifying structural sources of ableism, bias, inequity and exclusion within the University and exploring measures to reduce and eliminate these systemic barriers to inclusion. Members also assist the FA in networking, advocacy and promotion of social justice, equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusion within the University and the UBC Community more broadly.

There are four working groups which meet individually within the broader Equity Committee as a whole. All EC volunteers can pick the working group they wish to work with. The working groups are as follows:

• 2SLGBTQIA+
• Disability
• BIPOC
• Status of Women

While we hope to add members to all groups, we are specifically hoping to grow the 2SLGBTQIA+ working group. If you are interested in membership on this Committee, or if you would like to learn more about this opportunity, email us at [email protected].

Following ratification by the Executive Committee, new members can attend committee meetings. Each working group generally meets once per month during the Fall and Winter terms with an additional Equity Committee meeting that includes all working groups happening once every 1-2 months.
