Dear Colleagues:
It has been my pleasure and honour to serve as Chair of the Librarians and Archivists Committee since 2012. As you are by now aware, I will be serving as Executive Director of COPPUL for the next 3 years. Effective September 8, 2016, the Faculty Association Executive has appointed Bronwen Sprout to serve as Chair of the Librarians and Archivists Committee for the remainder of the 2016-17 academic year. An election will be held for the 2017-19 term in the spring. I’m very grateful to Bronwen for assuming this role. Bronwen has many years’ experience with the Faculty Association; she preceded me as the first Librarians and Archivists Committee Chair, and therefore has previous experience serving on the Faculty Association Executive. She has also served as a member of the Librarians and Archivists Committee and the Membership Services and Grievance Committee for the past several years.
My thanks to everyone who has engaged with the Librarians and Archivists Committee these past few years, whether by attending or contributing to an event, bringing forward a suggestion or concern or serving on the committee. It is heartening to see this level of engagement amongst UBC librarians and archivists and I think it bodes well for the future of our workplace.
