Tenure & Confirmation Clock Extensions

Tenure clock extension for new tenure-track Faculty members hired between April 7, 2020 and December 31, 2020 & confirmation-track Librarians and Archivists hired between April 7, 2020 and June 30, 2021

The University and the Faculty Association have agreed to provide a one-year tenure clock extension to tenure-track faculty members hired between April 7, 2020 and December 31, 2020 and a one-year extension to Librarians and Archivists confirmation-track period who were hired between April 7, 2020 and June 30, 2021. This agreement aligns with the previous April 7, 2020 tenure-clock and confirmation extension agreements owing to the COVID pandemic.

For faculty members, the extension will be applied to both reappointment and tenure review schedules. If a faculty member prefers not to have their reappointment timeline adjusted, they may elect to have the 1-year extension added to the end of their tenure review cycle. Those choosing this option must notify their Head in writing by February 25, 2022.

Similarly, if a faculty member, librarian or archivist prefers to not avail themselves of the 1-year tenure clock/confirmation track extension, they must notify their Head in writing by February 25, 2022.
