The Faculty Association is all about its members — over 3,200 faculty members across both campuses in all disciplines and units. Our members play a pivotal role in the life and success of UBC and include the professoriate (Instructor II, Assistant, Associate and Full professors), faculty in the Educational Leadership Stream (Instructor I, Senior Instructor and Professor of Teaching), 12-month Lecturers, and Sessional faculty. Heads and Directors of units as well as some Assistant Deans are also part of our membership as are Librarians and Program Directors.
Some job categories are not part of the Faculty Association. They are visiting and adjunct faculty, clinical faculty, postdoctoral fellows, research associates, teaching assistants, emeritus faculty, some assistant deans (AAPS members), senior academic administrators (associate deans and above), and some categories of librarians (CUPE).
Members pay dues to the Faculty Association which allows us to undertake the Association’s work on behalf of the membership. We keep in touch through our website, newsletters, email, events and meetings. There is a general meeting for members in the Fall and the Annual General Meeting typically in April.
