Implementation of Campus Vision 2050 has been underway since Board approved the long-term vision for the campus at the end of 2023, and provincial adoption of UBC’s updated Land Use Plan in 2024. A range of university and community priorities emerged through the extensive planning and engagement process and ongoing dialogue with the university community, including housing choice and affordability, services and amenities for a growing population, and student experience and wellbeing, to name just a few. These priorities are reflected in recent campus projects and are informing the development of more detailed plans and strategies to guide future growth.
UBC’s Campus + Community Planning team has just launched a webpage that provides an update on Campus Vision 2050 implementation, including highlights of recent and upcoming projects and current planning work in the following areas:
- Supporting academic projects
- Housing, essential services and community amenities
- Ecology and open space
- Transportation and mobility
- Musqueam presence
- Climate action
Interested members of the UBC community are invited to learn more on the webpage and then provide comments through a webform, which is open from October 16th – November 21st: https://planning.ubc.ca/CV2050-implementation.
