Call for Volunteers – Join a Standing Committee

Get Involved – Join a UBCFA Committee

The UBC Faculty Association is seeking volunteers to serve on our standing committees. We invite Faculty members from different disciplines, backgrounds, and positions to take part in this rewarding work of the Association. If you are currently serving on one of our committees, and have not already done so, we kindly ask that you confirm whether you wish to continue.

The Association’s committees do important work for all faculty members including networking, identifying barriers to workplace success, advocating for change, making recommendations to the Executive Committee, and programming educational events and other initiatives.

Volunteering on a standing committee counts as service to the University and should be considered in your overall workload. Most committees meet once a month and, depending on the committee’s activities, may require additional time outside of regular meetings.

Any current UBCFA member is eligible to put their name forward. Upon being ratified by the Executive Committee, the committee chair will reach out to new members regarding orientation and next steps.

The following standing committees are seeking new members in 2026-2027:

  • Member Services & Grievance Committee (MSGC)
  • Okanagan Faculty Committee (OFC)
  • Contract Faculty Committee (CFC)
  • Librarians & Archivists Committee (LAC)
  • Equity Committee (EQC)
  • Anti-Racism & Indigenous Initiatives Committee (ARIIC)

You can find additional information about the Faculty Association’s various committees, including terms of reference, on the UBCFA website.

If you are interested in joining a specific committee or would like more information, please  with your name, department, campus location and the committee you are interested in.
