In particular, if you are evacuated or require time away from work to address your needs, please notify your Head of Department and reach out to us for assistance.
As you navigate this difficult period, we encourage you to access the free resources of the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) offered through GreenShield Health . You can login directly or call GreenShield Health for assistance with the following:
- Professional & Crisis Counselling Services: Unlimited 24/7/365 counselling services are available for you and your family. Access them by phoning 1-866-424-0770 or visiting the GreenShield Health website. Virtual, telephone and in-person counselling is available.
- Indigenous Mental Health Services: Specialized, culturally safe care for self-identified Indigenous members
- Telemedicine: Quick, online access to a licenced general practitioner
- Financial Support: Short-term, solutions-focused counselling with professional financial advisors
- Legal Services: Access to an attorney for general legal information

- Alerts and Evacuations: Stay informed about the fire’s progression, evacuation orders, and other important information by visiting the Central Okanagan Emergency Operations website, the Regional District of North Okanagan website, and the Okanagan Indian Band website. These sites also includes instructions for evacuees’ support.
- Canadian Red Cross: The Canadian Red Cross provides support to eligible households.
- BC Wildfire Services: A comprehensive list and interactive map of the state of active wildfires in the province. This is also available as an app.
- Firesmoke.ca: A high resolution, interactive forecast of hourly, daily average and maximum concentrations of PM2.5 smoke particles at ground level from wildfires.
