UBC’s Program Directors work in a variety of areas with a wide range of responsibilities. Program Directors’ work is both academic and administrative, and generally involves development and administration of unique learning and/ or research programs for targeted audiences or with specific content. Generally responsible directly to the Associate Vice-President, Continuing Studies, Program Directors are increasingly spread out in different administrative units.
A confirmed appointment as a program director is the equivalent of tenure; program directors have the right to apply for sabbatical on the same terms as faculty, and enjoy, as well, the right to collegial and consultative input into decision-making.
