Standing Committees

Reporting to the Executive Committee, the Faculty Association has five standing committees that assist with the overall mandate of the Association.

Committees are chaired by an elected representative, who is also a member of the Faculty Association's Executive Committee, and comprised of other volunteers drawn from the general membership of the Association. Bargaining Preparation Committee

The Bargaining Preparation Committee is responsible for identifying issues, undertaking research and developing bargaining positions for the Faculty Association.

Librarians and Archivists Committee

The Librarians and Archivists Committee acts as a forum for ideas regarding internal library matters, and promotes and encourage means of continuing education and professional development for Librarians and Archivists.

Member Services & Grievance Committee

The Member Services & Grievance Committee is responsible for overseeing the processing and resolution of complaints and grievances, and recommending for or against arbitration proceedings

Okanagan Faculty Committee

The Okanagan Faculty Committee is responsible for matters and activities specific to UBCO; it helps to implement the Collective Agreement and provides a forum for direct communication with members at the Kelowna campus.

Sessional Faculty Committee

The mandate includes facilitating, networking, advocacy and policy development on behalf of faculty with sessional appointments; assists sessional faculty in interpreting the Collective Agreement, formulating sessional faculty priorities for collective bargaining, and ensuring that the rights of sessional faculty under the Collective Agreement are respected.

Status of Women Committee

The Status of Women Committee is responsible for mentoring/networking, policy development, and advocacy on gender equity issues, including pay equity, discrimination (particularly in recruitment, retention, and promotion), working climate, and work-life balance.
